LDPE/HDPE
Package
LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) - Low-density polyethylene
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) - High-density polyethylene
These two polyethylene materials are among the most common and widely used plastics. Their different densities, crystallinity, and molecular structures lead to significant differences in physical properties (such as strength, rigidity, toughness, transparency, heat resistance, and chemical resistance), so their application areas also have different focuses.
- LDPE is flexible, transparent, impact-resistant, easy to process (low melting point), and has relatively poor barrier properties.
- Packaging film: This is the largest application area of LDPE.
- Food packaging (bread bags, vegetable bags, plastic wrap).
- Shopping bags, garbage bags, industrial packaging films.
- Stretch wrap (used to fix goods on pallets).
- Agricultural films (greenhouse films, ground films).
- Shrink film (used to package bottles, cans, boxes, etc.).
- Extrusion coating: Coated on paper, cardboard, aluminum foil or other plastic films to provide heat sealing, moisture resistance and aesthetics (such as milk/juice carton linings, composite packaging materials).
- Injection molded products: Simple products that require flexibility.
- Caps (such as cosmetic bottle caps, medicine bottle caps).
- Toys (such as soft balls).
- Household utensils (such as squeeze bottles).
- Laboratory utensils.
- Blown film: Used to produce very thin films or films that require high toughness.
- Pipes: Mainly flexible agricultural irrigation pipes, drip irrigation tapes, and small-diameter water pipes.
- Wire and cable insulation: Due to its good electrical insulation and flexibility, it is used for the insulation layer and sheath of low-voltage wires and cables.
- Foaming materials: LDPE can be foamed into cushioning packaging materials (such as foam rolls, sheets), sporting goods (such as yoga mats), thermal insulation materials, etc.
- HDPE is harder, more heat-resistant, has higher mechanical strength (tensile strength, creep resistance), better chemical resistance (especially acid, alkali, solvent resistance), relatively good barrier properties, but usually not as transparent as LDPE.
- Blow molding products: One of the largest application areas of HDPE.
- Various containers: milk bottles, juice bottles, water bottles, detergent bottles, cosmetic bottles, medicine bottles, chemical barrels (such as chemicals, lubricants), fuel tanks (automobiles, agricultural machinery), large storage tanks (IBC barrels).
- Injection molding products:
- Daily necessities: barrels, basins, baskets, turnover boxes, pallets, chairs, toys (such as hard building blocks), kitchen utensils (cutting boards).
- Industrial parts: automotive parts (such as fender linings, fuel tanks), gears, bearings, housings, container caps.
- Bottle caps (especially those that require high strength and chemical resistance).
- Pipes and fittings: One of the most important application areas of HDPE, especially in the large-diameter field.
- Water supply pipes: municipal water supply, building water supply, direct drinking water pipes.
- Gas transmission pipes.
- Industrial pipes: chemical, mining, ships and other corrosive liquids/gases.
- Drainage and sewage pipes: municipal drainage, rainwater and sewage separation, building drainage.
- Agricultural irrigation pipes.
- Ground source heat pump pipes.
- Wire and cable protective casing. Advantages: corrosion resistance, long life (more than 50 years), good flexibility (earthquake resistance), light weight, reliable connection (hot melt), smooth inner wall, low resistance, no scaling.
- Film: Mainly used in occasions requiring higher strength and barrier properties.
- Shopping bags (thinner and stronger than LDPE bags).
- Garbage bags (especially large ones with high load-bearing requirements).
- Industrial packaging films, heavy packaging bags (such as container bag linings).
- Food packaging films (such as frozen food packaging, grain linings).
- Hollow products: In addition to blow-molded bottles, they also include large storage tanks, buoys, etc.
- Monofilaments and fibers: woven into ropes, fishing nets, mesh bags, geotextiles, carpet backings, artificial turf, etc.
- Rotational molded products: large, complex-shaped, one-piece molded products, such as large storage tanks (chemicals, water treatment), amusement facilities, traffic cones, kayaks, buoys, etc.
- Wire and cable jackets: provide mechanical protection and resistance to environmental stress cracking.
