- High strength and high rigidity:
- Excellent wear resistance and self-lubrication:
- Good heat resistance: Different grades can be used in a temperature range of -40°C to +150°C (or even higher, such as PA46, PA6T and other high-temperature nylons can reach more than 180°C).
- Good chemical resistance: It has good resistance to most common solvents, oils, weak alkalis, etc. (but weak resistance to strong acids, strong oxidants and some polar solvents).
- Excellent toughness and impact resistance: It can maintain good toughness especially at low temperatures.
- Easy to process: It can be formed by various methods such as injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, casting, etc.
- Good electrical insulation: It is a good insulator in a dry environment (but the insulation decreases after moisture absorption).
- Barrier properties: Some PA types (such as PA6) have good barrier properties to gases such as oxygen and are suitable for packaging.
- Engine compartment components:intake manifold, engine hood, radiator water tank, thermostat housing, cooling fan blades, etc. (using heat resistance and strength).
- Fuel system:fuel pipe, fuel tank (multi-layer barrier PA), fuel filter housing, oil pump components (using oil resistance, barrier properties, strength).
- Cooling system:water chamber, water pump impeller and volute.
- Chassis and transmission:bearing cages, gears (such as window lifters, seat adjusters), bushings, buckles, cable ties, pedal components (using wear resistance, self-lubrication, strength).
- Electrical and electronic:connectors, sensor housings, wiring harness fixtures, fuse boxes (using insulation, heat resistance, strength).
- Body and interior:door handles, door lock parts, seat frame parts, seat belt parts, wheel hub covers, etc.
- Connectors: Connectors and terminal blocks in various electronic and electrical equipment (using strength, heat resistance, insulation, and dimensional stability).
- Switches and circuit breakers: Housings and operating mechanism parts.
- Coil skeletons: The skeletons of transformers, relays, etc.
- Power tool housings: The housings of electric drills, electric saws, etc. (using strength, toughness, and insulation).
- Home appliance parts: Gears, bearings, and water valve parts in washing machines; impellers and housing parts in vacuum cleaners; heat-resistant parts in rice cookers, coffee machines, etc.
- Small precision parts: Such as gears, cams, bearings, etc.
- Gears: Light and medium load gears in various transmission systems (using wear resistance, self-lubrication, and low noise).
- Bearings and sleeves: Sliding bearings, bushings, pulleys (using wear resistance, self-lubrication, and chemical resistance).
- Cams, rollers: parts in conveying machinery and automation equipment.
- Fasteners: screws, nuts (nylon insert locknuts).
- Pump housings, impellers: chemical pumps, water treatment pumps, etc. (using chemical resistance and wear resistance).
- Films: PA6, PA66, etc. are commonly used as barrier layers for food packaging (such as meat, cheese, and cooked food), and are compounded with other materials (PE, PP, EVOH) to provide excellent oxygen barrier, puncture resistance, and toughness (such as cooking bags, vacuum packaging bags).
- Bottles and containers: Multi-layer barrier bottles are used to package condiments, beer, and other products that require oxygen barrier.
- Sports equipment: ski bindings, bicycle pedals, roller skates, racket strings, fishing lines and nets (using strength, toughness, and wear resistance).
- Zippers: Teeth and sliders for high-quality zippers.
- Bristles: Toothbrushes, industrial brushes, paint brushes (using toughness and wear resistance).
- Kitchenware: Heat-resistant spatulas, spoons (food-grade PA).
- Eyeglass frames: Lightweight, elastic, and not easily deformed.
- Clothing: Nylon stockings, sportswear, swimsuits, outdoor clothing (windproof, wear-resistant, elastic, and easy to dry).
- Industrial yarn: Tire cord (PA66), conveyor belts, ropes, seat belts, parachutes (using high strength, wear resistance, and toughness).
- 3D printing (additive manufacturing): PA12, PA11, PA6 and other powders or wires are one of the most commonly used engineering plastics in SLS (selective laser sintering) and FDM (fused deposition modeling) processes, used to manufacture functional prototypes, small batch production parts, customized tool fixtures, etc.
- Medical field: PA that meets biocompatibility requirements can be used for surgical instruments, reusable equipment housings, prosthetic parts, etc. (strict certification is required).
- Aerospace: Special grades of PA are used for parts that require lightweight, weather-resistant, and chemical-resistant (such as cable ties, connectors, and interior parts).
- Drones and robots: Lightweight, high-strength structural parts, gears, and housings.
